Support for Veterans

A Royal Canadian Legion Service Officer’s main duty is to assist veterans, their families, and eligible members with accessing benefits, programs, and services from Veterans Affairs Canada.  This includes helping with disability claims, accessing resources for health and well-being, and navigating the process of transitioning to civilian life.

Comrade Gail Nicholson is the Service Officer for the Airdrie Legion Branch 288.  Comrade Nicholson can be reached at serviceofficer288@gmail.com or by phone at 403.813.8137.

PTSD/OSI Peer Support Meetings - Peer support meetings are held every 3rd Thursday of the month at 1800hrs on the second floor of the Airdrie Legion. These meetings provide a safe, non-threatening environment for anyone experiencing PTSD or OSI symptoms. Participation is open to current or retired military and all frontline emergency personnel. A short vetting process is required prior to joining to ensure the group remains supportive and secure. Please contact Shayne (Batman) Smith at InnerManYYC@gmail.com to get started or for more information.

The Airdrie Legion is proud to partner with the Airdrie Food Bank; assisting veterans as needed. Veterans can access the food bank in confidence and in cases where you cannot pick up a food hamper, delivery is available.
